The Pack Horse Librarians were a group of women who risked their lives to deliver library books to remote corners of the United States on horseback. Their efforts touched approximately 100,000 people in rural midwestern America who didn’t have access to reading materials in their isolated communities. The pack horse librarians were champions of education, sharing knowledge and the magic of reading with thousands of underserved people.
